Betina

Geographical and historical position

Betina is a vibrant splendid settlement built at the northeast coast of Murter in the 16 century. The name comes from a Celtic word "bet", which means "mouth", and throughout history Betina was called "the mouth of the region", owing to its fertile fields abundant in olives and figs, as well as in vegetables that fed the whole area. Due to its picturesque scenery, exquisite architecture, as well as renowned wooden shipbuilding and maritime tradition, the entire town is under protection as a cultural monument.
